Ready to transform your being and doing?

Today’s the day when I will show you how to transform your context.

In doing so, you’ll discover a state of being that gives you a new sense of power and freedom around self-assessment.

You’ll also discover how I show my students how to apply mindfulness, with intention, to integrate your thoughts, emotions, feelings and sensations.

An integrated, intentional state of being sets you up for doing, creating results that help you expand your workplace performance.

Let’s get straight to it. Ready?

Grab a pen and paper to prepare for this exercise, remembering to pause the video whenever you need a little extra time.

Take a moment to focus on your breath, just observing the breath moving in and out through your nose. You don’t need to change it. Just notice.

Now, write down the first thing that you are mindful of when you think of assessment.

It could be a specific moment from the past during which you were assessed.

It could be a more general experience such as end-of-year exams or workplace performance reviews.

Notice your attitude towards this experience.

What are the thoughts and images that arise when you consider the world of assessment?

Write down what you notice.

What is the emotion that arises when you consider the world of assessment?

Write down what you notice.

Where do you experience this emotion in your body?

What sensations accompany the emotion?

Write down what you notice.

What happens if you simply allow the thoughts, images, emotions and sensations to just be there as you breathe slowly and gently in and out through the nose?

When you’re ready, take three deep breaths in through the nose, out through the mouth, and return your attention to the topic of assessment.

What, if anything, has changed with regard to assessment?

What are you thinking, seeing, feeling and sensing with regard to assessment?

Write down what you notice.

What’s now possible for you with regard to assessment?

Write down what you notice.

With a few moments of conscious breathing and noticing what’s present for you, you give yourself the space to notice and observe what’s really going on for you.

In doing so, you provide yourself with the opportunity to alter the context in a way that creates a beneficial state of being in you.

This, in turn, enables you to transform your doing.

Transform your doing, and you transform the results you are able to produce.

It’s not magic. It’s not beyond your comprehension. The ability to empower yourself is firmly within your grasp with applied mindfulness.

It’s as easy as breathing in... and breathing out.
