Spring is springing! It’s time to celebrate — and time to clean.

Say what?

After a long, dark winter of rest, recuperation and regrouping, it’s the time of year when life starts to move with increasing momentum.

And, it’s a great time to get yourself ready to spring into action.

How do you do that?

Traditionally, spring has been a time for cleaning the home, and in recent years, spring has also been a good time to clean our bodily home.

Whether it’s getting rid of old clothes and furniture to make space for new ones, or juicing for a week or two to reenergise the body, it naturally feels like the appropriate time to prepare oneself for being active, engaged and exposed.

Did you hear me say exposed?

Well, yes you did!

In winter, we tend to stay inside and cover ourselves up with woolly jumpers, big boots, hats and thick coats.

It makes sense to protect yourself against the elements, right?

So, when spring comes along and the weather starts to warm up, it makes sense to shed some of the layers. 

For a start, it’s uncomfortable to exist underneath all those layers as the sun increases the surface temperature of the planet.

And, it’s amazing to feel free and unencumbered, allowing your body to breathe and flow with ease.

As you start to move more, you may want to shed the extra weight you acquired during the winter months to keep you warm. For those who like to detox once a year, spring is the PERFECT time for it.

Now, while this all makes sense, have you considered adding a workplace detox to your springtime regime? 

If not, why not? What’s the benefit of detoxing your approach to work?

Well, what’s the benefit of cleaning out anything? Think about it.

You get rid of the ways of thinking, being and doing that no longer serve you.

You make space, either for new things to enter into your life or merely for the sake of having more space to move, explore and create.

This last part — the act of creation — is a brilliant way to refresh your perspective on the workplace.

Creating space provides you with the power to create a sense of peace and ease with work and your place within it.

It’s a little like starting from a blank canvas, which is the perfect place to start for any creative endeavour. 

You get to choose what you put on it. You can take days, weeks, months or even years to complete your canvas.

The power is in your hands.

It’s easier to create than you might think, and it provides loads more benefits than you may have realised.
